WHAT’S HOT FOR 2024
Oh hey 2024!!!
There has undeniably been a significant and noteworthy shift in design trends within the interior space over the past 12 months, and all indications point to these trends intensifying even further in the next 12 months, much to my relief. As someone whose work remains largely uninfluenced by trends (deliberately so), it is crucial to acknowledge that these shifts can impact the availability and prominence of certain materials, positioning them front and centre on the proverbial shelf of design options.

Colour, colour & more colour!!!
WOOHOO!! It seems that this year will bring a refreshing boldness for color trends. The upcoming trend is all about mixing and matching without any boundaries – embracing eclecticism in style. While the timeless minimal neutrals are still adored, injecting personal flair into the mix will undoubtedly steal the spotlight. So, get ready to play with a vibrant array of colours and patterns to express your true style!
If you tend to want to play it a bit safer, warm whites will be your best friend. However, if you feel the need to play it safe, remember to incorporate texture, texture, texture! Adding in pops of personality through different textures can elevate the overall look and feel of your space.

Natural materials are pushed to the max as designers and architects explore innovative ways to incorporate organic elements into modern structures and interiors. By embracing the unique textures and qualities of wood, stone, and other natural resources, creatives are redefining the possibilities of sustainable and aesthetically captivating design.

Replacing matt black, bright brass, and bright copper for stainless steel, nickel, and weathered brass can greatly elevate the aesthetic appeal and design versatility of your space. This exchange introduces a contemporary and sophisticated edge, while infusing a touch of warmth and opulence, thereby enhancing the overall ambiance and visual impact. A win win and a classic exchange.

Smaller and more efficient useful spaces not only bring coziness but also afford the tighter budget room to create a strong and inviting style using layers of textures, patterns, and rich materials. This approach is not only good for the environment but also for the hip pocket, making it a great choice for creating visually appealing spaces that are both eco-friendly and budget-friendly.

Lamps and lamps and wall lights. Please don’t rush to putting in down lights. They create zero atmosphere and aren’t that helpful with task lighting. Instead, consider opting for a radiant array of table lamps, portable lamps, floor lamps, or elegant wall lights, all of which can artfully cultivate a beautiful and enchanting ambiance throughout your home. One essential tip to remember is always to utilise the same temperature light, favouring warm white over cool white for a consistently inviting glow.

And finally - Window coverings!
I don’t know if this is going to be a trend or just something I’m hopeful for. In Australia, we don’t take our window covering seriously enough. A little linen curtain, roller blind, or at best timber shutters are the extent of our efforts. For a country where the elements are fierce and we need to keep the interior comfortable, we really don’t put in enough effort to protect ourselves from the harsh climate. Check out some inspiring, fun, and beautiful window covering ideas to revamp your space. Be bold and don't shy away from trying something new. Remember, it’s not a large investment to make a change that can last for 10 or 15 years, so why not explore different options for window coverings and transform your living space?
There it is, my round up of a few things to keep your eye out for.
As you navigate through your day, be adventurous and try bold choices that ignite your spirit. Stay true to yourself, and remember to embrace joy in all that you do.
Peace x
